A note · why this exists
I grew up watching the picture quietly get smaller.
Most platforms quietly compress what you upload — trading detail for bandwidth, the picture crushed a little harder each year, the work you sweated over softened before anyone ever saw it. It makes sense at their scale. Quietly lossy for the rest of us.
I’m a photographer and a videographer. I’m also a software engineer. For a long while those felt like separate lives. This platform is where they collide — the eye that knows what a frame should look like, and the hands to build the pipeline that holds it. Cameras and screens only get sharper from here; the future is high resolution, and this is built for it. Your work, shown in full. Nothing rationed. Nothing thrown away.
A few questions · before you begin
The plain answers, honestly.
- Does Do One Thing compress my photos?
- No. Your photos are stored and shown in full resolution — the exact file you uploaded, nothing compressed away. Most platforms quietly re-compress your uploads to save bandwidth; this one keeps the original.
- Can I store and play 4K video?
- Yes. Upload true 4K footage and play it back crisp and whole, straight in the browser on both Chrome and Safari — no quality rationed away for streaming.
- Does it support RAW photo files?
- Yes. RAW files are developed faithfully — the way a darkroom would — preserving the color and shadow detail the sensor actually captured, then kept at full resolution.
- Who can see my photos? Is it private?
- It's private by default. You share with a small circle — family and the few close friends you choose — not a public audience. Nothing is indexed or shown to strangers.
- How is it different from Google Photos or iCloud?
- Google Photos and iCloud re-compress your photos and videos to manage storage at their scale. Do One Thing is built for full-resolution preservation instead: photos and 4K video kept exactly as you made them, shared privately with the people who matter.
